Peter became a tenant with us following his pupillage in September 2020.
He regularly appears in both the Magistrates’ and Crown Court and accepts instruction for both prosecution and defence. He has also undertaken instructions in private family law matters and is a volunteer with the Bar’s pro bono charity, Advocate.
Prior to commencing pupillage, Peter worked at a number of law firms, including Broudie Jackson Canter as a Law Society accredited Senior Immigration & Asylum Caseworker. He assisted publicly funded asylum seekers from across the world in their claims for international protection, including victims of human trafficking. Peter also has experience of tribunal advocacy, having spent time working as a tribunal Presenting Officer, representing the Department for Work and Pensions at Social Security Appeal Tribunals.
At university, Peter was part of a team of students that won the Law Works and Attorney General’s Pro Bono Award for Best Contribution by a Team of Students for their work on the Hillsborough Inquests. He also received advocacy awards for mooting. Peter received 100% in his Opinion Writing assessment on his bar exams and so welcomes paper-based instructions. In his previous working life, Peter has experience of working in civil claims (road traffic and medical negligence).
Away from work, Peter is a lifelong Liverpool FC fan and an experienced guitarist who is always keen to hear from those interested in starting a blues band.
