Jacob joined chambers as a tenant in January 2025, after successfully completing a family law pupillage under the supervision of Sarah Griffin.
Before starting pupillage, Jacob worked within family law as a paralegal for two years gaining a range of experience. Firstly, at a leading boutique family law firm working on matrimonial finance cases and private law cases. Subsequently, at a local authority developing his understanding of care proceedings, DOLs and the pre-proceedings process.
Jacob is regularly instructed in private law and public law cases.
In private law children, this includes representing parents, grandparents and r16.4 guardians. He has experience in all types of hearings; application hearings, urgent hearings, FHDRA, DRA and final hearings. He has appeared in cases involving issues of domestic abuse, international relocation, capacity issues and represented clients requiring intermediaries and translators.
Jacob has acted for clients in a range of fact finding hearings, responding to and advancing allegations of abuse, including securing numerous findings of serious abuse.
In public law, this includes acting for local authorities, parents and children’s guardians in care proceedings. He is regularly instructed to provide advice to local authorities and to draft documents including thresholds.
Jacob has also appeared in financial remedy cases, and this is an area he is keen to develop.
Further, he has given a number of talks at university outreach and careers events, including the University of Law and the University of Manchester, to provide application tips and to encourage students from a range of backgrounds to consider pursuing a career at the Bar.
Outside of the law, Jacob enjoys all things Ottolenghi, travel and keeping up his French.
